1) RELEASE
Stress and Anxiety
Stress and anxiety are the body’s
natural responses to a real or perceived threat, what’s often referred to as
“the fight or flight” reaction –our survival instinct. When anxiety is
prolonged over time and our physiological
systems are under pressure for longer periods,
it ultimately makes it harder for our bodies to adapt and cope. The result? Wear
and tear on our bodies! We get tired, we
look tired, and as it continues with no downtime, this vicious cycle takes a
toll on our body which is no good for our health. The simple act of taking 20-30
minutes out of your day whether you have a massage, a facial or a form of
meditation will help immensely. It’s a time to unwind, decompress, concentrate
on breathing to release stress to help reverse the effects so you feel better
and bring out a more radiant you!
2) RELAX
Your Mind and Body
We all know what it means to relax, but
getting into the regular practice of relaxation, that’s hard. It’s important to
get into a daily routine of relaxing and having some “you time” just a little
bit each day. This helps manage stress, improves your concentration, productivity
and overall well being. Many of us think that relaxation means chilling out in
front of the TV at the end of a stressful day. But in fact, this does little to
reduce the damaging effects of stress. To effectively combat stress, you need
to activate the body's natural relaxation response. There are a number of
relaxation techniques and activities that you could practice for short periods
of time each day. One of the best, which is also simple to integrate into a
daily routine, is guided meditation, which focuses on deep breathing,
progressive muscle relaxation and visualization to get you into a purely relaxed
state. It can be as short as 20 minutes but you gain hours of energy and a
renewed sense of calm.
3) RECHARGE
Your Energy Level
Boost your energy and your mood.
Perhaps you’re working later hours at the office, running your kids around to
all their activities, helping an older relative, whatever it is that has you running
ragged, remember to take care of number one –YOU! It only takes a few minutes
of downtime to recharge and refuel your body to feel like new again. If you
don’t have time to nap or sleep to recharge, head to a day spa for a quick 30-minute
massage, facial or other treatment where you can shut your mind off for a bit,
and you’ll see, that’s all it takes to get miles of more energy out of your
system.
4) REPLENISH
Your Skin
The skin is the largest organ of the
body, are you taking good care of it and giving it the nutrients it requires? Getting
started in a spa routine when you’re young is great investment that pays off
now, and in years to come. While it may feel like indulgence, regular
treatments will help keep your skin supple, reduce inflammations and deter
wrinkles. Services like facials, steam and sauna treatments, body wraps coupled
with good skincare habits like a healthy diet, exercise, and meditation will
accomplish wonders for your skin. You’ll find your skin will thank you by
making you look younger and more beautiful and feel more confident about the
skin you’re in.
5) RENEW
Your Spirit
Feel good again. Forget those little
things that are getting you down. A trip to the spa always does wonders for the
spirit, to regain your positivity and lift your mood. One of the best ways to
renew your spirit is through meditation and guided meditations. With breathing, relaxation and
visualization techniques will help find a renewed sense of self.
6) RETURN
To Calm
Lose the words “frantic” and “hectic”
and get back some of that tranquility in your life. A visit to the spa at the
end of a long week will get back your sense of calm so you don’t start that
vicious cycle that never ends. Be sure to take back some time for you find some
peace and reclaim your life.
